Whether
you are looking to sell your property, or are a buyer looking for property to
purchase, Tom
Sidwell is offering his services and, ranch and farm expertise, to
you. Tom is a cattle rancher, and is also an Associate Broker with New
Mexico Property Group out of Tucumcari, New Mexico. He helps people sell
and buy land all over the diversified and enchanted State of New Mexico.
Because Tom has lived and ranched in many different parts of New Mexico, his
knowledge of this land is not limited to Eastern New Mexico where he now
resides, but includes most of the State.
Tom Sidwell was raised in the ranching business near the small ranching town of Carrizozo in south-central New Mexico. He attended New Mexico State University where he obtained a degree in Range Management. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era.
After graduating from NMSU, Tom worked on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona for a year as a survey crew member surveying and mapping the soil and vegetative sites on a million acres. This data was compiled and published for use by the Navajo Nation. Tom then transferred to the Bureau of Land Management in Socorro,
Western New Mexico, where he spent ten years as a Supervisory Range Conservationist
administering the grazing program on 1.2 million acres of public land in addition to running his small alfalfa and livestock farm.
Tom left the federal government in order to return to his ranching roots and spent 3 years managing a ranch near Marathon, Texas, then returned to Capitan,
South Central New Mexico, where he managed the 65,000-acre G Bar F Ranch for 9 years.
Tom later married Mimi and together they owned and operated a 14,000-acre BLM
ranch northwest of Roswell, in the south eastern part of New Mexico.
In 1998, they moved to the Panhandle of Nebraska where they
purchased and ran a diversified ranching operation, which included taking in
cow/calf pairs 6 months out of the year providing complete
care;
starting and operating a new venture taking in
guests for a working cattle ranch experience; and
establishing a profitable deer and turkey hunting operation.
In 2004 they moved back to New Mexico to be closer to
family and purchased their current
7,000-acre cattle ranch, located 25 miles south of Tucumcari, NM. Here
they have implemented Tom's longstanding knowledge of
managed grazing, and are constantly improving the
ranch's water distribution, fencing as well as brush
eradication. They run 150 Longhorn cows and
breed them with good quality Charolais bulls, with
the result being growthy solid-colored marketable
calves. They sell natural
grass-fed beef to individuals, as well as the "working
cattle ranch/guest ranch" and a small hunting
operation. Tom and Mimi recently received
the
